About

Eddie Hicks is a member of the Canadian World Cup team currently based out of Whistler, BC.

Eddie Hicks was born in BC and grew up in the countryside of Langley, British Columbia. The eldest child of a family freshly transplanted from Ontario, he grew up like any other Canadian boy – playing minor hockey. Although displaying great athletic qualities from a young age and participating in many different sports, no sport held his attention fully. It was around the age of 11 that Eddie discovered freestyle skiing and that signaled the end of hockey, snowboarding, and everything else. From that time on he was singularly focused on training and competing in moguls, duals moguls, half pipe, and big air events. A quadruple medalist at the age of 13 in all four junior national championship events, he eventually went on to specialize in moguls.

However, at the age of 17, Eddie let go of his pursuit of moguls to apply himself fully in school and graduated from Brookswood Secondary school an honor roll student with diplomas in both English and French. Unsure what post-secondary route to choose, Eddie decided he was not finished with skiing and moved to Whistler full time where newly appointed BC team coach Adrian Taggart approached him to reconsider his mogul career. A few phone calls later, Eddie was thrown into his first full Noram season after little training in the previous 2 years and was invited to the selection camp for the National team at the end of the season. Realizing the opportunity in front of him, he committed himself to pursuing his long-time dream of becoming a World Cup mogul skier and one year later was the top draft pick at the age of 19.

Now Eddie follows the World Cup tour representing his team and nation proudly wherever he goes. This website and blog will chronicle his journey as he strives to elevate himself to the rank of #1 in the World and Olympic Champion.
